The Print Club of New York
The Print Club of
New York was founded in 1991 by Morley Meldon and 150 avid print
collectors interested in sharing the joys of print collecting,
increasing their knowledge of prints and creating a great work
of art each year for Club members. The late Sylvan Cole, one of
the foremost gallery directors of American art, was the Club’s
principal advisor. The membership was increased to 200 the
following year to accommodate the many collectors who wished to
join.
During the past
seventeen years, the Club has maintained an extensive
educational program which includes panel discussions of issues
of special interest to print collectors, as well as visits to
museums, galleries, artists’ studios, print shops and
exhibitions. For the past fifteen years the Print Club of New
York has conducted an annual juried Artists’ Showcase for
artists who are in the earlier stages of their printmaking
careers.
The seventeen
exceptional prints by renowned artists commissioned for Club
members are being exhibited
together for the first time in the Gregg Gallery of the National
Arts Club in March of 2009. click
